YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) concluded its 2025 early admission application process at 6 PM on September 13th, recording an average competition ratio of 6.2:1. A total of 23,962 students applied for 3,863 seats (within the regular quota), marking a slight increase from the previous year’s ratio of 6.18:1. 


Despite an increase in the number of available spots compared to last year, the competition ratio still rose. A total of 25,542 applicants, including those outside the regular quota, applied—457 more than the previous year—setting a new record for the highest number of applicants in Yeungnam University’s early admission history.


 The fields of medicine and pharmacy, which have traditionally had high competition, showed high competition again this time. Faculty of Pharmacy recorded the highest ratio in the Potentially Excellent Student Admission (Regional) (36.4:1), with 182 applicants competing for 5 spots. In the General Student Admission, 581 students applied for 16 seats in the Faculty of Pharmacy, resulting in a 36.31:1 ratio, and the Regional Talent Admission also saw a high ratio of 27.38:1. For the Medical School, the General Student Admission recorded a 23.67:1 ratio, with 284 applicants competing for 12 seats. Other admission categories in the medical program also showed high competition ratios, including 16.54:1 in the Regional Talent Selection and 15.88:1 in the Medical Creative Talent Selection. 


 Other majors also exhibited strong competition in the General Student Admission, including the Department of Fiber System Engineering (11.73:1), Department of Forestry Resources (10.5:1), Global Education Division (10.38:1), Department of Sociology (10.1:1). In the Regional Talent Selection, Applied Chinese Translation (13.17:1), Political Science and Diplomacy (11.09:1), and Fiber System Engineering (10.5:1) also showed high competition. The Department of Media and Communication (15.82:1), Department of Police Administration (15.43:1), Department of Psychology (12.08:1), and the College of Liberal Arts (Undeclared Humanities) (11.92:1) also recorded high ratios. In the practical skills category, the Physical Education Department showed a 9.71:1 ratio.


 By admission category, 8,967 students applied for 1,444 seats in the General Student Admission, recording a 6.21:1 ratio. The Regional Talent Admission attracted 5,895 applicants for 932 seats (6.33:1), and 6,266 students applied for 913 seats in the Potentially Excellent Student Admission, yielding a 6.86:1 ratio.


 Meanwhile, YU 2025 early admission practical exams for arts and physical education will be held on October 29th for the Physical Education Department and from October 29-31 for the College of Arts. Interviews for the Medical Creative Talent Selection will take place on October 12th.  Results for the practical and specialized categories will be announced on November 11th, with results for other categories released on December 13th.
